The metaverse in music
The pandemic forced the cancellation or postponement of many live music events, leading artists to look for new ways to connect with their fans. The metaverse offered a solution, as it allowed artists to create immersive musical experiences that fans could enjoy at home.
In this way, music saw an opportunity in fields such as :
πΈ Virtual concerts: Virtual concerts became a popular way for artists to connect with their fans during the pandemic. Artists such as Travis Scott, Lil Nas X and Ariana Grande hosted virtual concerts on platforms such as Fortnite and Roblox.

Music events in the metaverse : Some artists organised music events in the metaverse. OzzFest, the iconic global touring metal festival created by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, enters the Metaverse in 2022 as part of the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival. Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, MotΓΆrhead, Black Label Society, The Raven Age, Skid Row and Britof were among these artists.

Music integration in the metaverse : Metaverse platforms such as Roblox and Fortnite started to integrate music into their games. This allowed fans to enjoy music in the metaverse while playing.

And this is only a small part of what we can find in the vast ocean of the metaverse, as we are only looking at virtual worlds with and without blockchain integration, as well as video games.
International platforms born to rule the music metaverse
As well as culture, fashion and dance, PRISM’s music section is one of the most immersive in existence today, bringing together world-class artists.
PRISM World hosts massive shows that are impossible to imagine in the real world.
Leading DJs and artists from the world of electronic music have already signed up to collaborate with PRISM, including Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Charlotte de Witte, Armin van Buuren, Carl Cox, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Black Coffee. Each of these artists will create a series of exclusive performances.
In a few days (27th October 2023) one of the shows of the international artist Carl Cox will take place at Sensorium Galaxy.

Electronic music pioneer, the legendary Carl Cox, transcends the confines of reality to deliver a ground-breaking virtual performance in the Sensorium Galaxy.
Experience uncharted realms with his Intermundium.
Your nearest access points? Very different, of course.

We will be able to access from Β TikTokΒ ,Β PICO XRΒ ,Β YouTube & Valve corporation through Steam VR.
CEEK simulates the community experience of attending a live concert, a classroom, a sporting event, and other exclusive experiences “that money can’t buy” with friends from anywhere, at any time. We can even say that CEEK has its own marketplace where it sells its own headsets, visors…

It has a complete repertoire of artists, both in real time and recorded, so you can enjoy the experience whenever you want or can. In truth, the channel is huge and resembles an advanced Youtube, where the experience is logically more immersive.

Its partners include major companies such as Β Universal Music GroupΒ ,Β Sony Music EntertainmentΒ ,Β National Basketball Association (NBA)Β ,Β Apple and many others…
So far, what I have been able to observe most of the platform in its trajectory are recorded videos, 360 experiences and some in streaming, standing out for their high quality of retransmission.
Its sections, as you can see here, also go beyond just the music section:

Some of the musical artists Ceek VR has signed include Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, U2, Sting, Ziggy Marley, Demi Lovato, Bon Jovi, Neyo, Bruno Mars, Adele, BeyoncΓ©, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, BTS, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Twenty One Pilots, The Jonas Brothers, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, The Killers, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Queen, ABBA, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Nirvana, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses y AC/DC.
Simply brutal.
AUDIUS, THE ONLINE ALTERNATIVE TO SPOTIFY
Audius is a new streaming platform designed for all musicians, not just those signed to a record label.
Build a fan base, share your work in progress and publish your finished songs. You can create and monetise your tracks without having to be signed to a label.
Although it is a niche platform because it is integrated into the blockchain and the sector is not exactly massified, there are not few or little known artists who already rely on the platform:

In addition to uploading, sharing and listening to music on the platform, you can also get your own $Audius token. As a decentralised music protocol, it is designed to be controlled by artists and community owners. This alternative music platform gives everyone involved a piece of the pie, including listeners, artists and node operators.
I have done a little comparison so you can see the similarities and differences with Spotify:

In addition, record companies and music intermediaries have traditionally taken the lion’s share of each song or album sold.
It is estimated that only about 12% of the music industry’s revenues go to artists. Audius aims to differentiate itself from its competitors by directing 90% of music revenues to artists.

Audius has acquired virtual music experience platform https://soundstage.fm/ π₯
SoundStage.fm has built one of the most exciting ways for artists and their fans to meet in the metaverse and is a natural extension of what the Audius community is building π

As of October 2021, the platform had 3 million users, while just one year later, it had reached 7.5 million. We do not yet have data for the current year.
There are many more utilities in music that I will talk about in future articles. The reality is that various technologies such as artificial intelligence are also revolutionising the sector, but to introduce and condense them all in this article would only make this an encyclopaedia π.
So to stay informed about these and many other platforms I will be bringing you, remember to subscribe ππππ
See you next time!
