¿ WHAT IS OXAGON ?
On the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, a smart industrial city is being built that has the potential to transform industry and create a model for the industrial cities of the future. Its futuristic urban development may set a precedent for future projects around the world.
Located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, OXAGON is the world’s first and largest fully automated port and integrated logistics center. Built to be the future of advanced and clean industries, the 7km wide floating city and 48km2 core development area will be a hub for innovation, enabled by an automated port integrated with supply chain digitization. It will use the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial and predictive intelligence and robotics to create “an integrated, intelligent and efficient supply chain.”
The onshore development is expected to be completed by 2030, with the goal of having the city’s logistics solutions facility in place by 2025. Once completed, it will be home to some of the Kingdom’s most advanced and visionary companies.

CONTRACTORS WANT OXAGON
Contractors vie for $6.4bn of work at OXAGON port
Bidding activity is intensifying on Neom’s Oxagon project, with contractors competing for an expected SR24 billion ($6.4 billion) worth of construction work at the industrial city’s port.
Contractors were invited to submit proposals by December 27 for a design-build contract worth an estimated SR12 billion for the execution of infrastructure and construction works at Oxagon Port Terminal 1. The contract is scheduled to be awarded in February 2024.
The scope of the package includes excavation and dredging, revetments for channel widening, demolition and construction of a new longer quay wall, extension of the container terminal jetty and earthworks, in addition to the development of a flexible jetty, construction of several new buildings and infrastructure works. The contractors will be required to appoint a consultant to execute the design.
Contractors have already submitted bids for another estimated SR12 billion package covering the port’s cargo terminal construction works.
Jacobs is the lead design consultant for the Oxagon port project.
Jacobs will work alongside sub-consultants Moffat & Nichol International , iGO Solutions and Trent to deliver the transformation project.
These packages are the latest to be tendered for the port. In October, NEOM selected the joint venture formed by Belgium’s DEME Group and Greece’s Archirodon Group N.V. for the estimated $1 billion contract to complete the next phase of the Duba Port expansion in the industrial city of Oxagon.
